The building, designed by Zaha Hadid Architects, is a 147-metre tower with a double envelope. The outer façades taper towards vanishing points at the four corners of the tower. The external windows on the south-east side curve and transform into the covering of the bridge connecting the tower with the adjacent building.
The project presents a high geometric variability – 2700 different cells for the outer skin alone – and a great complexity of shapes, particularly in the bridge lot, where the steel T-beams and the overhead aluminium system that supports the glass are curved and twisted.
In the early stages of design assistance, we worked in close collaboration with the client to define the geometry of the bridge, working alongside the architect and defining together the best mesh to adapt the concept to the construction requirements.
After a careful study of the critical conditions, especially on the boundaries, we developed a parametric 3D model that was able to adapt to all the multiple configurations. Finally, we dealt with the programming that made it possible to quickly reproduce the models, construction tables and production data for each cell.
