A major renovation and innovation project for the Franjo Tuđman airport in Zagreb, a strategic air traffic hub in Eastern Europe.
Our firm was involved in defining the design of the large glazed façade that runs north along the whole new boarding terminal area. The double curvature surface is the result of joining a series of circular sections. In collaboration with the architect and the façade designers, we decided to house the glass panes in flat panels, discretising the surface in triangular-shaped slabs. We also defined the design of the six-pole node of the stick-system that supports the façade.
We were also entrusted with the construction modelling of the Performance Mock-up and the three-dimensional modelling of the main components of the entire north façade. We carried out local modelling of the internal false ceiling of the large departure lounge, in the areas of confluence of different surfaces with complex curvature.
